I work in marketing for a socially-minded technology company so I’m really interested in the ideas about connectional intelligence that Dhawan and Joni have described in this book. In my position, I’m constantly looking for new ways to reach large numbers of people in a short amount of time and with minimal work and I feel like the authors really nailed it with her ideas. I loved each of the little anecdotes and short stories they gave. Most of those stories I had never heard of until reading the book, but I found myself being really curious and interested in learning more about the people featured in the book and what their backstories were. Needless to say, this book certainly made for entertaining reading and I have a few favorite stories I have in mind, some of which sound almost fairy-tale like, but offer a large dose of science and practicality, which I love. For example, there was the story of Ron Wallace and the giant 2,000 pound pumpkin, which reminded me of James & the Giant Peach or the Cinderella story for some reason. Ok, obviously, there aren’t any fairy godmothers or giant spiders in Ron Wallace’s story, but admittedly, there is a touch of magic to this idea of being able to create something so unfathomably BIG in a way that’s never been done before.

Erica Dhawn and Saj-Nicole Joni have taken the art of connectivity and coalesced it into a science. "Get Big Things Done" is a guide to success for anyone and everyone, no matter where you are in your life or career. They present the past, the present, and the future transformed into a powerful tool for today's interconnected world. The stories in this book will not only motivate you to unpack your dreams, but provide a tremendous foundation and set of tools to make them a reality. In my opinion, Connectional Intelligence is one of the most important business concepts you can put into play, and Get Big Things Done may well be the most important business book published this year.

Get BIG Things Done by Dhawan and Joni is truly refreshing and energizing. The book not only introduces the concept of Connectional Intelligence, but makes the theory actionable through the glimpses of real life stories and experiences that are applicable to individuals from all walks of life. The book speaks to the transformational power of Connectional Intelligence when it is channeled correctly, while minimizing the noise created by our technology-centric lives. As the book mentions, Connectional Intelligence is and will become an increasingly required quality for leaders in our connected world. As a Management Consultant for a large consulting firm, I definitely see the application of the concepts included in the book towards engaging our people and the book has truly provided me with some ideas on building and helping build connections (internal and external) that can serve as a differentiator in the workspace and help address the needs of our people and clients.

Saj-Nicole Joni is a big idea person and in this book she sees the emergence of connectional intelligence having much the same long lasting impacts as "The Third Wave" by Toffler. It is easy to misunderstand what Joni means when she discusses the degree of interconnection between people and systems that enable innovation on a very larger scale. She is not talking about old fashion 'networking' during a job search. The new degree of interconnection and instant sharing between widely dispersed people and resources will mean that collaboration will become the way we innovate new solutions for the problems we create.

I ordered Erica's book after I listened to a very intriguing and inspiring webinar on connectional intelligence. I didn't realize there was a name for what I have recently been experiencing in business - the power behind making connections between two or more seemingly random people, events, and ideas. From the very first page of Get Big Things Done, this book has helped me think about my work and my business in entirely bigger ways. I'm halfway through and have already decided to re-read the book when I'm done. Great work, Erica.

Okay, I’m not usually big on reading motivational business how-tos, but I really loved this book! For some reason, it just seemed different from the many millions of other books parroting the same ideas that are just repackaged in a different box. This book offers a brand new perspective on something I have never heard of before, but I love, and it’s this idea of connectional intelligence. Now, while I’m sure that this isn’t necessarily a brand new idea in and of itself, the name and the concept in its 2015 version is amazing and I think it’s something that people of many walks of life can really appreciate and use. I loved the book, loved the stories. I found myself reading the book with my smartphone in my hand the whole time so I could look up the stories of all the people featured in the book. They were all extremely interesting to me. I felt like I was learning so much and also being inspired at the same time. I will definitely share this with friends as I know a lot of people who would love to read this kind of book.

We’ve all felt overwhelmed by technology. We’ve all felt overworked. We’ve all stared at too many screens and thought, what is the point of all this? Am I actually doing anything? How do I navigate this new connected world and find meaning? This book will help find those answers and figure out how we can all find happiness today. This book is for anyone who has an idea or a finished product in their head or just an excitement about the world but doesn’t quite know what to do with it. Through the concept of connectional intelligence the authors outline the new way of working and the new way of reaching our dreams in our connected world. The stories put the pieces together and show how today’s leaders and new voices are putting the digital world to use and achieving amazing results. But this isn’t just a tech book or a book about the internet. At its heart, its a book about people and how we all continue to use our creativity and thrive.
